I have a question, and I was wondering.
Say someone has a username and passkey for years.
Some one new wants to use that same name, and they get a passkey.
Is it even possible for two different people to use the same user name?
Will the 2nd user show up under the original users stats?
Sometimes you go to join a forum and you can't cant use a name because it is already taken.
So then you have to pick another name. Say like 2 people named pete who have the same B-day pete1215.
Is it like that in folding, they can't use the same handle/name?
user name

Re: user name
Many people can use the same fah user name. It's a feature or flaw, depending on your point of view. That's one reason why Passkey was added. So one pete1215 can keep his stats separate from another pete1215.

Re: user name
Thanks Tim, so if those two people only folded GPU and did Not get a key no need yet. Their stats could get mixed.
What's the chances of that happening, hardly any I bet. (hope)
Interesting, Thanks again.

Re: user name
At one time the F@H website would let you know if a folding username was unique or not. It may still do so, I have not used that tool/page in years. But there is no registration process to have each username only be used by a single person or organization. The tool also distinguished between names in a case sensitive manner, and it appears that some of the searches on the official stats site do not.
So for instance in my case I chose Joe_H as it was unique at the time. But a couple of entries for Joe_h for two different teams will also show up in a search of the official stats, neither entry is for work I have done. At least they folded for different team numbers and I can tell the WU's reported for them are not ones I processed. So the only way at this point to distinguish between points for multiple users of the same name is through use of the passkey.
