F@H Online Inactive
Just installed V. 7.1.52 on Windows XP Pro running AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Brisbane 2.3GHz with Radeon 4670 on Comcast cable.
When installing chose Custom and selected GPU setting.
Results:
Client: local Online inactive.
What do I need to make program download and fold?
Thanks.

Re: F@H Online Inactive
I saw a post somewhere saying that the Radeon 4870 is going to be deprecated soon, so that means no more work for that series of GPUs. I'm wondering if that's what's happening to your 4670. Can you post the log please?

Re: F@H Online Inactive
Welcome to the forum camb003!
The "local Online inactive" means that the client you are looking at is the one on the localhost (your machine) as opposed to a connection to another machine (which V7 can do). It was able to connect and get information from this client, so that's why it says "Online". I believe the "inactive" means it's shut down and not folding. Once it is set up, the client then contacts the F@h server and requests work. It seems that it's not folding either because it was unable to connect, or the server couldn't give it work for it to do. Everything is set up, you don't need to download anything more.
In any case, the log will show a lot of useful information. Under "Advanced" mode (available from drop down menu in upper right hand corner) you should see a Log tab. Copy that and paste it here, in between Code tags (available if you press the Full Editor button). That way we can see what is going on and further help you. Thanks.

I copied the log with code but it won't post. Used the Full Editor and click "Code" before and after log. What am I missing?

Try placing the log in between the tags. There's an opening tag and a closing tag, just like HTML. So paste the log in between:camb003 wrote:I copied the log with code but it won't post. Used the Full Editor and click "Code" before and after log. What am I missing?

Re: F@H Online Inactive
That means there is no available WUs for your GPU, unfortunately. There is nothing wrong with your client.
Re: F@H Online Inactive
Welcome to foldingforum,org, camb003.
The HD 4xxx series is expected to be deprecated soon for FAH GPU processing. Current projects are gradually running out of work and I doubt there will be any new ones.
Your choices are:
> Keep trying to get GPU work and be patient when there is none.
> Enable a Uniprocessor slot, which will always get work which is compatible with the GPU either running or not running.
> Disable the GPU slot and enable a SMP slot
> Disable the GPU slot and enable two uniprocessor slots.
If it were me, I'd choose the third option.

I think I will choose the third option. Where do I disable GPU slot and enable SMP slot? Thanks.

Re: F@H Online Inactive
I'd recommend that you reconfigure after you finish WUs, so that they don't time out and get reassigned to someone else to process all over again. Hit the Finish button to do that, and wait till they all complete. Then, if you click the Configure button and go to the Slots tab, you'll see what you've set up. You can then remove your GPU slot and then add an SMP slot.camb003 wrote:I think I will choose the third option. Where do I disable GPU slot and enable SMP slot? Thanks.

Great, thanks. I'll try that and start folding. By the way I think it never stated folding for the reason stated above. "That means there is no available WUs for your GPU, unfortunately. There is nothing wrong with your client."

True. Maybe it should. "Failed to get assignment from 'assign-GPU.stanford.edu:80': Empty work server assignment" Is the technical way of saying it I guess.camb003 wrote:Great, thanks. Now it says Online Running. So I take it it's folding alright.

I have had this "Online Inactive" for a while. I set the Slots to just SMP, but it is still Inactive.
The Log reads as follows. I would appreciate some guidance.

Hello Neverland, welcome to the forum.
You have software or hardware blocking the connection to Stanford. Make sure that any Anti-Virus or Firewall is configured to allow the client to connect to the internet to download work units.
