Project: 6505 (Run 2, Clone 57, Gen 85) [Updated]

Post by Ilina »

Code: Select all

[04:25:18] Project: 6505 (Run 2, Clone 57, Gen 85)
[04:25:18]
[04:25:18] Assembly optimizations on if available.
[04:25:18] Entering M.D.
[04:25:24] Gromacs error.
[04:25:24]
[04:25:24] Folding@home Core Shutdown: UNKNOWN_ERROR
[04:25:28] CoreStatus = 79 (121)
[04:25:28] Client-core communications error: ERROR 0x79
[04:25:28] This is a sign of more serious problems, shutting down.
And I did delete my work and queue several time, and I'm still reciving that unis (6505). Any news on it ?

EDIT: If I change my machine ID number, I get a new unit, great! ... but the unit I'm getting right after is this unit...happenned 3 times yet. I tried to get rid of it by letting it expire, without success.

Changing the Machine ID may give you a different WU.

You meant that you:
1) Deleted the queue.dat file
2) Deleted the work folder
3) Changed the machine ID

And you are still being assigned the same WU (Project: 6505 (Run 2, Clone 57, Gen 85))? Because this is the first time that I have heard where this method didn't work. Please note that 6505 is a Project and you may still get different WUs from the same Project. To identify if it is the same WU or not you need to look at the PRCG (Details).

My bad. I forgot to delete the files BEFORE changing the machine ID... And yes, that worked.

This unit is messing with me ! Even if I change my ID, I'm getthing that unit right after the new one! I did take a break trying to let that unit expire, but I'm guessing it take a bit more than a month.

Note: I'm still running v7.1.21 on my uniprocessor laptop that this report is from.

Odd sequence for several reasons:

1. The PRCG is old - I was surprised to see there already was a thread for this exact WU from Dec 2010, with a note from Jan 2011.
2. After normal v7 download of this WU at 99% of the previous WU, and start of this WU at the finish of the previous, it went into four "Gromacs error -- UNKNOWN ERROR" loops
3. It wasn't an immediate error - there are 6 seconds between "Entering MD" and the "UNKNOWN ERROR"
4. Reported the "Too many errors" message. There have been several other references to this error in the forum
5. Reported the "Work server too old for fail report". This has been reported before - latest report on 21 April. One of my own forum posts on a totally unrelated issue from 7 April on starting multiple FAH Console and Clients included this message in its log
6. Reported the "FahCore type in core package seems to be in wrong byte order" error - this also has hit the forum several times, mostly it seems in relation to the multiple GPU issues
7. After this sequence, terminating with attempting to load a new core 78, it started the "Project: 6508 (Run 2, Clone 240, Gen 94)", and is happily folding at 36%

The old laptop has been pretty stable. The error occurred at 4:27am local time when no one was on it and the room was pretty cool - low to mid 60s (deg F). I haven't seen any thermal problems - with my laptop cooler, the CPU temp runs 70-78 deg C.

I can't see anything actionable on my own part right now - should I be doing something?

Please always run the newest version unless there is a serious problem with that version.

So many things change so quickly from one version to the next... and if I reported a bug that had been fixed in the newest version, I would look kinda silly in the eyes of the developers. ;)

That error message is a cosmetic one. The reason is that the FahCores was compiled with v6 Client in mind. The V7 handles the FahCores in a different manner. However, once the FahCores are compiled with V7 in mind, this error will go away automatically. Do note that there isn't anything wrong with the FahCore or WU processing, just a way of saying "This FahCore follows the v6 standard instead of V7".
