2 systems (from 1 base VM image) have received the same WU

Post by ParrLeyne »

I have 2 Win7 systems which I created from a single VM image (running on VMWare ESX 4), when I started up FAH, both systems received the same A3 WU (6021 Run 0, Clone 158, Gen 118).

Is this expected?

Yes, because with the same image comes the same System ID/Machine ID. Changing either of those values in the registry and client configuration, respectively, would let you download different work units on the two systems.

Best solution would be to delete the System ID registry entry in the second VM, and let FAH download a new one. But what wrish said will work.

Vista puts the entry in a location like this. Win 7 may be similar, maybe not.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PandeGroup\Folding@home

That did the trick!

Thanks 7im and Wrish
