How are processors identified? (wrong count?)

Post by EL-PS3 »

Hi,

I am using my PS3, a Mac Mini and a Mac Pro for folding since 2 months now.
My stats always showed 3 processors, which is correct so far (ok, the Max Pro
has 2 Dualcore Xeons). I assume the processor is identifies by a MAC address,
as I am on dial-up connection, which results in changing IP adresses.

Since yesterday, my stats show 4 processors? No machine was exchanged,
nor did I use another additionally. Maybe this has to do with the recent PS3
problems? Or anyone else maybe using my name? how can I find out if so?
Ok, if anybody want to contribute to my points, but I'd prefer to count them
up all by myself...

you don't have to add or change hardware, If you've recently re-installled or updated the client, the servers at Stanford
will id it as a new instance. The count will return to normal as the 7 day and 50 day windows pass.
I believe every time you run the config file , a new number string is generated.

Check the FAH WIKI (http://fahwiki.net/index.php/CPUID):
Finally, the FAH stats system is actually counting different CPUIDs, not active CPUs itself.
