New target for FAH?

Post by CBT »

As Prof. Pande recently described, the FAH-project as a whole recently surpassed the 5 TFLOPS limit (or was it 8), which is some 5 (or 8) times faster than the fastest supercomputer to date.

I just noticed a new target for the project: 20 TFLOPS by 2012. Increasing our speed fourfold in over 2 years shouldn't be a problem for us, now should it? :ewink:

Of course, this project is not about speed or points, but about science and cures, but it does give nice touch while we're on the way ...

We're back under 5pflops now but theres no reason to think we couldn't quite easily achieve the 20tflops.
Are there any forums or posts that discuss how to spread the word about F@H?
For as long as I've been folding the user count has only increased by about 40,000. I think a lot of the growth in processing has been through upgrades of technology, which isn't a bad thing... but it'd be nice to increase the userbase [and subsequently retain them]
I notice a lot of the higher teams [by higher I am only referring to teams 2500 and below] have stopped producing work units and whilst theres always going to be an attrition rate there are some easy ways to keep people interested ;)
