Thanks for getting this fixed but it looks like somebody un-fixed it within the last 12 hours. Back to using a web proxy...

Thanks for the heads up. I've un-broken it again, and I'm looking into the cause.

Hey "UF" my/our talented friend,

Whilst thee is nosing around with the Forum would you please see what I can do to correct some minor problems:

1. I am not receiving email notifications when pm's are sent to me.
2. I am not receiving email notifications for subscribed threads.

I was coming in as "hidden" up until yesterday but somehow managed to toggle that back to normal.

I sent a test message to the Forum's email address at the suggestion of one of your fine Mods.
Nothing changed as a result of that.

Control Panel settings have NOT been changed since the Forum was acting properly but have been toggled back and forth since the problems showed up.
They appear to be correct at this stage but are not behaving.

Thanks in advance for helping (or at least trying to help) an old guy with a minor problem.

Cheers,

John

A friendly visitor to what hopefully will remain a friendly Forum.
With thanks to all of the dedicated volunteers on the staff here!!

I've just had emails from two F@H donors, both Comcast users, about forum email problems. One registered for the first time, another changed his password and email address. Both have been unable to receive confirmation emails from the forum.
I tested the registration system from a gmail address and it worked just fine.

Any other Comcast users having problems getting forum emails?

Optus is dealing with these same issues, being unable to contact folding forum servers and folding forum servers being unable to contact them [with mail]

I tried for 4 weeks to sign up unsuccessfully and had to make a google mail address.

Optus is the 2nd largest isp in Australia so this will be affecting many people, imagine someone seeking help with installing FAH for the first time only to be thwarted by the forum registration, bye bye potential folder.

Sorry for the lack of detail, I had a massive post with all the information ready and it was deleted about a dozen times with the error message about the urls.

So the full story [editing seems to allow me to post the same information i tried to post last time];

I tried to sign up about a month ago using my web based mail address which resulted in the registration page simply reloading itself continually.
I then tried to sign up about a week later using my optus email address which worked just fine but I didn't receive a confirmation email.
I tried sending mails to the folding forum admins but none of them reached their email boxes, the error message on the returned mail I will post later.
I finally signed up using g-mail and it works just fine.

Did you look in your "spam" part of your mail box ? It might have been sent there by a too strict spam filter ...

My bounced emails to admin...

No, there was nothing in the spam box, I assume that foldingforum suffered from the same inability to contact me as I had contacting them.

.

I 've just had a period (about 6 hours or more) where I couldn't get any pages from the 'foldingforums' ...

The error message I got was "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Is there anyone who can tell me why this was happening ?
I 've just got the connection back / It was possible to connect other websites without problems during all of this time.
It was only this website that was a problem for me; unable to get pages downloaded ...

I was not on the forum during that time period, but there are a number of posts from other people so it appears that the problem was not associated with the server, itself. You might check with your ISP.
