If I have FAHMon installed in Windows, how do I get it to be able to see a Linux client?

Would make the work directory accessible via SMB or NFS/CIFS or something like that in order for the system to be able to pick up on it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

If you share the client folder (not just the work folder) using a system that Windows can understand, i.e. samba or cifs then yes, it is as simple as that.

Can someone post a build from SVN please?

Save us all downloading / compiling from source? :)

Cheers :)

Hi Igloo!

I think the only one who should make binaries available for download is uncle_fungus, and those are the official releases. There are always open questions about the requested kind of files:
  • Is the download made available by a person I'm trusting?
  • Are there any (serious) bugs nobody is yet aware of?
I know, some time has gone by since version 2.3.4, but if you are that curious and really want to have a binary from SVN from time to time it isn't a big deal and the needed software doesn't cost a penny. Here you can find the procedure (guessing you're meaning Windows): http://trac.fahmon.net/wiki/CompilingForWindows

Gerby,

I completely understand that, I'm a sysadmin :p

I thought it would just save me 30 mins of my life if people had already done it :p

What do the asteriks after the PPD numbers indicate?

Ok, I'm taking the plunge and am trying to very carefully follow these directions:
1 Navigate to C:\wxWidgets-2.8.7\build\msw and open wx.dsw.
2 When prompted to open and convert the files, click yes to all.
(I installed MVB 2008 Express Edition. I couldn't find wxWidgets 2.8.7 so ended up with 2.8.9, is that a problem?)

What do I open wx.dsw with,, Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition (MSVC)?
When I try to open it as a project I get:
C:\wxWidgets-2.9.9\guild\msw\wx_wxregex.dsp cannon be opened because its project type (.dsp) is not supported by this version of the application. To open it, please use a version that supports this type of project.

Any help would be appreciated,, Thanks, Dave

Having 2.8.9 is fine, that's what I'm currently using to build FahMon with. I just haven't updated the docs to reflect that change.

You will need Visual C++ Express. Visual Basic Express, which is apparently what you have will not work.

Arrg,
I downloaded and installed the proper program this time and tried again with 1 failure during the Build Solution. I thought maybe the MSVB that I installed was getting in the way so I removed that, rebooted and got the same:

Re: FahMon (multi-platform app to monitor various F@h clients)

Post by uncle_fungus »

I wouldn't care too much about that particular failure as it is for a part of the wxwidgets library that isn't even linked to in FahMon.

However, you haven't changed the build type of wxWidgets to "Unicode Release", so you won't be able to build FahMon anyway.

If you follow the instructions precisely it should "just work"

At some point (i.e. after 2.4.0 is out) I'll try and set up a build-bot to automate the entire process to produce nightly builds straight from svn for Windows and possible a couple of Linux distros.
