I changed jobs and had to give back my laptop.
It had a T5600, 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo with 2Mb cache.
It ran SMP WUs fine. Mainly p2665 (760PPD) and p2653 (1050PPD). The few p306x it was served barely made the preferred limit (with about 990PPD).
Most inexpensive laptops are T3200, 2GHz Pentium Dual core, same core as Core 2 but a smaller 1Mb L2 cache.
Does some one know how it would run SMP WUs (PPD / limits) ? Fahinfo.org is down (Bandwidth Limit Exceeded message).

Re: Intel T3200
There were some specific reports on the Core2Duo desktop chips when they were new. Some WUs got the same performance with large and small cache sizes -- other WUs had radically different performance. I see no reason to believe that it would be any different for the laptop version of those chips.
Bandwidth Limit Exceeded is probably monthly and might be reset in as little as 3 hours, since the server is in UK.

Re: Intel T3200
I recently did an upgrade on my Dell Vostro 1500 so I can give you some PPD numbers ..
Before Upgrade
Intel T5270 C2D 1.4Ghz (2MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB)- 2GB System Ram -
Running Linux SMP - 800-1400 PPD (A1 Core lower value - A2 Core higher value)
Running XP Uni-Processsor - 100-260PPD per client (200-520 PPD for both uni-processsor clients combined)
After Upgrade:
Intel T9300 C2D 2.5Ghz (2MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB)- 4GB System Ram - Vista x64
Running VM Linux SMP - 2300-2400 PPD (A2 Core)
Running Vista x64 Uni-Processsor - 350-750PPD per client (700-1500 PPD for both uni-processsor clients combined)
Hope those numbers help you a little ...
You will get the best performance on a laptop cpu running the linux client over windows SMP due to the A2 core available to linux.
