i'm curious about the ins and outs of this part of the system. I have 5 very different systems running fah
ps3
766mhz tower
2.4ghz tower
1.6ghz laptop
1.6DC laptop
so are WU thrown out as needed by your system? or based on my systems stats that were sent to you from the client? with my only 5 systems running i have some WU ive done 8 times. and lets face it it cant be coming from my 766. that thing has taken a week and half to do a 5000 long unit. are there to be expected different results? some variable that might show up once in 10,000 times?
how are WU assigned??

Re: how are WU assigned??
im afraid that really didnt answer my question. i think that article was based more on if i want to choose what i get. im concerned with what ive already done and how theyre actually handed out.
ive done P5301 27 times, P5308 25 times, P5300 20 times, and P5311 14 times. i only have 5 processors.
so why am i doing the same project nearly 30 times? and is each processor expected to give a different answer? and are the projects given out based on cpu stats or user stats or randomly or other?

Re: how are WU assigned??
Each project consists of thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of individual WUs. The Pande Group makes sincere efforts to make sure each WU is processed only once but they also need every WU to be returned so sometimes they do get completed more than once.
An individual WU is is represented by four numbers, the Project, Run, Clone, and Gen. I'm confident that each of the "27 times" you processed Project 5301 you actually were working on different run/clone/gen values for that same project. New WUs from the same project will continue to be assigned until they're all completed which may take many months.
See the wiki for more information about runs, clones, gens
