What clients should i run?
My computer specs are: E5200 2.50GHZ, 2gb 800mhz ram with 4-4-4-12, 9600gt 512 over clocked edition.
I'm currently using system tray client. When i use others, my ppd starts to drop and if i add all 3 clients together, total PPD is 1300. When i run the "Windows XP/2003/Vista GPU System tray client (installer msi)" 6.20r1 client, my windows explorer crashes and won't restart unless i log off.
Also, can anyone tell me which clients should i be using with the specs above? I fold 24/7 and i would really like to run multiple clients if it is going to give me more PPD or the clients that give higher PPD.
Thanks in advance

Re: What clients should i run?
You can run a total of 2 GPU/CPU clients or a single SMP client.
Your best bet would likely be a GPU client plus a CPU client. Best results are normally gotten with console clients running as Services, though there may be problems running the GPU Console client as a Service under Vista.

Re: What clients should i run?
What is your OS? GPU + SMP should be okay on vista. If systray crashes u may want to attempt console. GPU will probably give u the highest PPD about 4000-5000.
Re: What clients should i run?
I'm getting 3600 PPD when its idle. After i start to run other software, it goes down to 3200 PPD.GPU will probably give u the highest PPD about 4000-5000
Please give me the link and in what number the download corresponds as it's very hard to me to figure them out. I am running xp home and pro sometime.
Re: What clients should i run?
Ok, this is what's happening.
When i go rename the file as fa6.exe, my explorer crashes and drwatson debugger crashes. After i send report, Microsoft tells me i have problem with my graphic card driver.
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Intel/Desktop/5.1.2600.0.00000000.9.9.htm It has been happening to me ever since last windows. I never over clocked the card but i just don't know why its happening. Installed the latest graphic drivers.
Trying to install SMP client, NOT deino one. Also, i don't know which file should i name FAH6.exe. I tried using the file with fah-kind of image but there are 3 kinds of file ending with EXE

Re: What clients should i run?
One more thing.. When im running multiple clients, my system is only using 1 core at full speed. Even when i choose one client, it will only use 1 core. I have selected box to disable locking of cores but i never see my system using other core..
And guys, please help

Re: What clients should i run?
Are you trying to run the SMP client AND the GPU client? If so, do NOT try that on a dual-core CPU!
Some systems just will not run the SMP client. If you are having problems with it, uninstall it and delete all the work files/folders, and run the CPU and/or the GPU clients instead. With 2 cores you can run EITHER 2 CPU clients or 1 GPU client + 1 CPU client. Generally the console clients behave better than the graphic or Systray clients when multiple clients are run. Read the Wiki and installation guides to ensure you have the proper setup parameters.

Re: What clients should i run?
No, i just run SMP client. I installed smp deino and was getting 200PPD nad 109 points. with the other one, i was getting 900 points but couldn't find out how many PPD.
I just want to run software that will give me the PPD.

I can't find cpu client... can someone give me a direct link? In all those high performance clients, there are gpu and smp clients

Re: What clients should i run?
The cpu client is on the standard download page, not the high performance page. It works nicely if you are running the gpu client. http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Downloadkliddo wrote:I can't find cpu client... can someone give me a direct link? Note that both the gpu and the smp clients are beta clients so they take more tweaking to make work correctly than the released client.
Re: What clients should i run?
Ah.. I never go to command panel to put it all those words, i simply launch the .exe file and from there use command. I've happy to find cure for diseases but too much problems causes long time of computer use which is resulting in my eyes being painful. This forum replies really slowtake more tweaking to make work correctly than the released client.
Re: What clients should i run?
oh and running cpu and gpu clients results in low ppd. Can someone please give me a link too on how to install? some steps on folding website doesn't get to my brain.

It's a volunteer-based forum. You get prompt replies only when somebody is around who knows the answer to your question.kliddo wrote:This forum replies really slow

What do you call "low ppd"?kliddo wrote:oh and running cpu and gpu clients results in low ppd. Can someone please give me a link too on how to install? some steps on folding website doesn't get to my brain.
Do you prefer the console client or the console client? Which are you running. You will need to configure them with different Machine IDs.
How much CPU time is going to each instance of FahCore_xx?

Re: What clients should i run?
While the GPU client is also beta, it appears to run better for many people than does the SMP client. One thing you should do is set the priority on the GPU client to "slightly higher" in the config. That ensures the CPU or SMP client does not step on its toes.
Several people have reported problems with the GPU Systray client causing problems with another client running alongside. Changing to the console client seems to resolve those problems. If you are running XP, running both the GPU console client and the CPU console client as Services works well and resolves most interference problems.
