At present the stats files have the time they are generated on their first line ... 00:00, 03:00 etc (Pacific local time ... PLT hereafter).
With the files being generated every three hours ... and the source for the update being run every two this means that the data in the file is alternatly almost up to date and just oven an hour out of date.
Would it not be possible for the update file (at 00:00, 03:00 PLT etc) to include the time that the previous two hourly update was completed so that this time can be used to compute stats with greater accuracy ... for example some third party sites calculate when two teams are going to pass each other ... It also affects estmates of point scoring rates ...

That's an interesting idea, but I don't want to mess with the stats system right now, when we have a lot of other activities going on (GPU, SMP, server code debugging, etc). Let's let the other areas settle down a bit before we make changes to how the stats system works (esp consider the stats system needs to be rock solid).
