How broken can a PS3 be and still fold?

Post by birefringent »

A first order broken PS3 on eBay typically has a bad laser disk drive. Would this still fold? How little of the unit is needed? What else can you get away with not having and still fold. I have it in mind to replace the electric heater this winter. I vehemently do not want a game box in this house. So the more broken the better. Also, could someone point me to other places broken PS3's are sold and parts swapped.

Broken laser disk drive will not affect folding capabilities. If I am not mistaken then broken HDD can be replaced with one from any PC store, but all the rest of components are soldered onto the mainboard and can not be replaced so easily.
