Re: FahMon (multi-platform app to monitor various F@h clients)

Post by susato »

I've run into a problem using FahMon to monitor a GPU client. When FahMon is reopened, the client list window is not displayed. I can only see the window that shows the FAHlog tail, so I can't add a second client. I've tried deleting the prefs file, and have also tried reinstalling FahMon, but the problem reoccurs each time. How can I get the client list section of the FahMon window to show up again?

Win XP SP3, F@H GPU/NVidia, F@H classic, FahMon v. 2.3.2b.

Try hitting F8 a couple of times to hide/unhide the FAHlog viewer, that usually fixes the problem.

My problem is that FahMon does not recognize my clients at all. Why?

I use Vista 32bit SP1, Tray GPU client (ATI 4850), classic CPU client and FahMon 2.3.2b. Is there an issue with Vista? I've also tried running FahMon as an administrator, but it doesn't fix anything...

Note that I have downloaded all new Projects.

What do you mean it doesn't recognise your clients? Do they all go black/all go red?

It's like they don't exist at all for FahMon.

Have you remembered that you need to point FahMon at the data directory, and not the client directory (c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\folding@home...)

Oops...

Thanks.

Edit: Unless I use the -local flag, right? I haven't used it in my Vista clients.

You only need the -local flag if you're running multiple clients on the same computer

FahMon 2.3.3 Released

FahMon 2.3.3 is now available for download here: http://fahmon.net/download.html

What's new in this release:

* The client list view has been made much more configurable and additional columns can be added with a right click on the column title.
* You can now completely hide the WU Info panel on the right hand side of the main FahMon window.
* Clients can now be managed from the main menu instead of a right click menu in the clients list.
* Clients can now be manually disabled if you don't want FahMon to monitor them.
* Paused clients can now be detected and shouldn't register as *hung*.
* A number of debilitating bugs that affected GPU monitoring have been fixed.
* FahMon on Windows now follows MS guidelines for storage of settings. This means no more problems with UAC on Vista when downloading project updates.

Special thanks go to John Daiker for providing a number of patches to improve GPU2 support as well as fixing the "quick-refresh" crash bug.

As always if you find any bugs in FahMon please report them using trac

Nice new version! It is however still displaying my GPU2 PPD as inaccurate :( (9600GT running p5506 atm)

Hey, that's a really neat upgrade uncle_fungus. Good job!! :)

Running on Vista, it seems a lot more responsive. Updates are much faster now, it's snappy.
Love the extra columns too, cheers for that!

The only annoyance is that it defaulted to Swedish and there's no settings to change the language within the program. Had to fiddle with the .pot-file to get it back to English. ;) Localisation is a good thing, but for the next version perhaps you could add a dropdown menu in Preferences, so one could choose?

Anyway, great work, thanks a bunch! :)

For the moment you can just delete the whole lang folder if you don't need any localisations. For the next version I'll work out some way of selecting the language.

Yeah, no worries Uncle, it's a minor thing. Just thought I'd report it. :)
