Donator Rank vs User Rank

Post by Mactin »

On my main stats page ( http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... ame=Mactin ), I am listed at Donator Rank "2802 of 968293"

On the any of the Detailed listing pages ( http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/mai ... 1&prange=0 ), its now User Rank "2856".

What's the difference ?

Don't know, I'll ask someone from Pande Group to comment.

Donor ranks are often shown as rank vs current donors and rank vs all (including inactive) donors.
At some point, graphs of the two ranking methods cross, and donor rank can be close to the same for each method.

If you folded for more than one team, you'll get a combined rank and a per-team rank.
AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4200+ (2.2 GHz)
Intel C2D 6400 (2.13 GHz)
Intel C2D T7800 (2.6 GHz)
PS3

More fun (stats last updated: Wednesday October 15, 2008):

Contributor: McFolden
Rank on userstats page: 36
Rank on user page (Overall rank (if points are combined)): 33 of 1099249
Rank on user page (Contributions by team and project: whoopass (131015)): 34 of 1099249
Rank on detailed project listing page accessed for contribution to team: 36

Contributor: toTow
Rank on userstats page: 38
Rank on user page (Overall rank (if points are combined)): 34 of 1099249
Rank on user page (Contributions by team and project: Alliance Francophone (51)): 34 of 1099249
Rank on detailed project listing page accessed for contribution to team: 36

As you can see, these two contributors are just separated by 1 other user. Yet, the different rankings are not offset by the same amount. Its not that teams 0 and PS3 aren't counted 'cause eveything is fine until rank 7. Like Mactin, I too am interested in knowing what determines these ranks.

anandhanju, perhaps the discrepancy that you are seeing is because of total combined scores.
Check these pages for example:
