Are you seeing slow networking to Stanford? If so, please try this out:

1) Go to http://iperf.stanford.edu

2) Click on the "Start" Button

3) You'll see a report. Here's an example of a typical DSL connection

running 10s outbound test (client-to-server [C2S]) . . . . . 433.0kb/s
running 10s inbound test (server-to-client [S2C]) . . . . . . 1.67Mb/s

I'm just quoting the bandwidth lines you'll see (it will print some other info too).

4) If you see slow uploads (eg outbound is less than 30kb/s) and you have broadband (DSL, cablemodem, etc), then could you repeat from step 2 and see if this is reproducible.

5) If you're seeing reproducibly slow connections, the iperf diagnostics can tell you what's the cause (eg Stanford or your ISP). If it's your ISP, please check with them (this report may be useful). If it's Stanford, could you post your bandwidth lines as well as your ISP. We'll forward this info along to Stanford IT.

Upload looks OK. Download is a way low, but I noticed that before the test. I am not sure what the "Information" line means. It is obvious what it says, but I have no clue why it says that.
