Re: help!
That client only uses one core of your CPU (25%) so what you are seeing is normal.

Re: help!
The 5.03 client can use only one of your four CPU cores, so 25% is correct.
There are two obvious choices
1) Run the SMP client (a new beta was posted this morning). This client is designed to use four CPU-cores simultaneously. The previous beta (v5.91/5.92) was a relatively difficult client to get installed. I'm not sure how many of those problems will carry over into the v6 client but we'll know more as reports begin to come in.
2) Run multiple copies of the CPU client. That means you can download and run three copies of the v5.04 console or the v6 beta console to run along with the v5.03 client you're already running. There's a HowTo in the Wiki.

thanks you guys posted back really fast
Re: help!
I have a problem (I think) with my graphic version of the Folding@Home software.
It's taking forever for the program do complete the frames it works on. I have 106/500 frames completed and it's taken a few weeks to do this and I'm pushed my computer to the max when I'm not using it like watching a film on another pc.
The software is on my laptop, vista with over two gig ram and two gig processor. So I don't think it should be a problem to fly through these frames if I've put the processor power up and the priority up.
Is this going to take me weeks to process and get recognised for the current work I'm on to work 500 frames, or is there a problem? As it appears to be very very slow.
I have another XP pc to do other things like watch films, so I let my laptop work away. I only bought the laptop not more than three months ago.
Should I have started a new thread?

Re: help!
Can you copy your FAHlog.txt file here? Put it between code and /code tags (put brackets like these : [ ] around the code and /code words) so it displays well.

Here's my FAHlog.txt file in full. I hope that you can see if there are any errors in this software that I have installled.

[18:39:48] - Use IE connection settings: Yes
Change that to No. Uncheck both the IE and Proxy boxes on the Connection Tab of the client configuation. May not be the only problem, but it is a start.

Re: help!
Why are you pausing the client? It may be affecting the speed as which it works when it resumes. There should be few reasons to pause the client; it automatically yields the CPU to other processes when you are actively using the computer.
Try shutting down the client, reboot the computer if convenient, and restart the client.
Also, why did you answer "Yes" to "Ask before connecting"? That should be "No" for most installations.
Finally (for now), some machines just don't like the graphics. Try minimizing it to the task bar or system tray and see how it does after a while. A 3rd-party monitor app like FahMon (see the 3rd Party forum) is handy and small.
