gpu disabled 5080

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though NVidia has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Yes, v8.5.5 seems to be doing fine.

Just to add to the thread:

I had a similar issue yesterday when I installed a new GPU on 7.6.21 and it detected but showed as disabled. Tried slot options, a full uninstall and reinstall of 7.6.21 and several reboots, the new driver confirmations, etc. Nothing was making it work.

Installed the 8.5.6 and it took off just fine. The only thing that changed in the system was the new to me GPU, and before installing it I updated the NVIDIA drivers to the latest and made sure they were working fine on the old GPU. It could well be that a driver beyond a set version is creating the bug in 7.6.21.

Aaaannnd.... I managed to fold two GPU work units on the same time on 8.5.6 without MPS or any intended trickery. I'm going to try to duplicate it to see if I'm right as to what caused it. I'm going to check performance differences at the same time and see if it compares to using MPS.
Fold them if you get them!
