comms interruption and completed work unit will not restart reupload

Post by prcowley »

My wifi connection is a bit flaky.

It sometimes disconnects and then reconnects (or not depending on ...)

A reboot of the wifi box (a separate unit from the router) as the wifi unit services 13 people (in a lodge)
Eventually I reboot the wif iunit and all is well for a while - usually returns stability for a few weeks

However, if a work unit was completed, but was unable to be uploaded because the wifi was down at the time, it never retries the upload. The log file saws 100% complete but no effort to try an upload it. (Sorry I didn't capture it)

To get it to start uploading again I have to actually kill the fah-client process. That seems to work, if I am there to catch it. but if not then someone else get the points and I have wasted the compute time.

Anybody else having similar issues?

My system details are: Operating System: Ubuntu Studio 25.10
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
Kernel Version: 6.17.0-8-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor
Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.5 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor 1: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER
Graphics Processor 2: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor
Manufacturer: ASUS

I am running fah-client 8.5.5.

Cheers

No need to "capture it", that failure to upload should show up in your log files. The client retains copies of older logs going back many days. They are given a timestamp name and stored in a "logs" subdirectory of the F@h data directory.

You might want to try the latest beta, I reported a few weird behaviours with intermittent connections (I sometimes use my phone as a modem that is not always connected to the laptop) and this one has been fixed :
v8.5.6 changelog wrote:- Delay after upload fail to WS and all CS.
If you still have troubles, feel free to open a ticket with an extract of the log from the client.
