8.5 = HIP?
This is probably a stupid question since I haven't seen any massive fanfare about it, but is HIP supported now? The 8.5.0 changelog seems to suggest that, but I'm unclear about what exactly "Added option and core parameters for HIP." means for end users. I did see some promising info in unrelated threads that made it seem like it was close.

No, not yet.
The client is supposed to be ready.
We are waiting on the hip cores, which will need alpha testing.

Re: 8.5 = HIP?
The client supports a setting for HIP in anticipation of a GPU folding core coming out that enables HIP. But that is still something in the planning stages, and has not yet been developed. When a core comes out will depend on when the underlying OpenMM code library has been updated to use HIP.

Look at it this way, if I'm still alive by the time HIP fahcore is released, the world will know that it is released. The condition, as I said, it being released in my lifetime
