Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
I´m using on a W11 System with RTX 4080 both, the GPU and CPU.
The most performance has the GPU. My system is callculation 2 Units at a time. Mostly the GPU Unit is finished and starts uploading. After Upload is done, the secound Unit which is between 50 and 60 % completed this unit is dumped.
What can I do not wasting half done Units while uploading finished Units?

You can start by providing full system specs, some log outputs where you think things are being dumped.alteir wrote: ↑Thu Dec 04, 2025 5:04 pm I´m using on a W11 System with RTX 4080 both, the GPU and CPU.

It happend tree times:

When the GPU Unit is uploading, the CPU unfinished Unit dumped.

When the GPU Unit is uploading, the CPU unfinished Unit dumped.

Re: Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
Try catching it in the act, and copy the log snippet when it happens.
I see only 1 time where finishing and dumping is happening at the same time. Other two dumps have no finished WU close enough to be influenced
P.S. the reason this is happening, because Machine is upset that you named it NBA

Re: Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
Doesn't this happen when a single resources group has both CPUs and GPU assigned so it tries to run both CPU and GPU at the same time ?
Also, it would help to see error from the log when this is happening.

Re: Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
I have a PC with the GPU and CPU in a single resource group running both CPU and GPU WUs and it's not dumping (well, one WU in the last 6 weeks or so). It's still on 8.4.9 though.
I recall a couple years ago with 8.1 complaining that when a GPU work unit finished and uploaded it would cause the CPU work unit to stop and restart folding; didn't dump but it definitely caused an interruption. It was fixed at the time but this could be a recurrence & escalation of that issue.

Any other info I need to provide?
You can do so by unlocking Advanced options in Settings section of fahclient. There is a small padlock icon on right hand side, click on it and unlock extra options. Obviously make sure all the folding is finished, by licking pause and then pause when finish option, before you proceed creating resource groups.
So once in the settings on the right hand side you will see Resource Group section with Default already listed on it.
Set the CPU slider to zero, and untick all the GPUs. Then Click Add, on left hand side, name the resource group CPU (or whatever you want to call it in relation to CPU), set the CPU slider to whatever you had it set before resource group creation (If yoou want to use maximum CPU threads, slide it to the right all the way, and then one step back or two steps back if you have 2 GPUs folding). Then click Add again, name it GPU (or whatever you want related to GPU), tick the GPU and leave CPU slider on zero. Click Save, and now in the main page you will have an option to control each GPU and CPU separately. So start folding on both, and please monitor, and report if you see any more of WU dumping occurrences.
Now all this is required to see if default setting in fahclient is causing this issue, that we can present this bug to the dev with as much info as possible. So if WU dumping is not happening, then we know what is at fault.
Thanks

Re: Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
Will do tomorrow when it's convenient to finish for a while! (I've become a bit too reliant on heating with folding
) Also I've not had too many dumped units so haven't really been too bothered. I just checked https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus, and assuming passkey works as "Anonymous", I have 97.07% finished WUs. So no major problems here I don't think? Will post when/if this happen again.

Re: Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
Hello. I’m new. My Intel Mac was folding fine on a big chunk for about a day. Then it showed as disconnected. I rebooted, it took a while to pop back up, and it started all over on another WU. Not only is it infuriating that the core isn’t resilient to reboots, but now there’s a huge WU dumped with not even a notification to F@H. In the interest of the integrity of the work, of course I want to be careful. I’m thankful for the opportunity to assist, but the reading that I have done so far in the forum and FAQ’s gives me the feeling that I’m walking on thin ice.
Okay, I think I found the dumped job: 18806, RCG 81, 8, 609
Watchdog triggered, requesting soft shutdown down
Completed 201962 out of 250000 steps (80%)
Folding@home Core Shutdown: WU_STALLED
This is off-topic somewhat. If it’s in the way just push it off the road.

Yes, it is off-topic as the problems are not related.PatrickHelmick wrote: ↑Wed Dec 24, 2025 10:40 pm Hello. I’m new. My Intel Mac was folding fine on a big chunk for about a day. As for your reading, perhaps you might have noticed the problems with interruptions largely apply to running on Windows where it does not wait during a shutdown for the client and folding core to exit. This is almost never an issue running the CPU cores under macOS or Linux. You do not show enough from your log to determine whether or not a dump report was sent, normally that happens a bit farther along.
Otherwise what gives you the idea your are walking on thin ice? CPU folding and its folding core are quite robust, outside of the issues connected to Windows aborting runs instead of waiting during shutdowns.

Re: Uploading a finished Unit will dump unfinhised unit
Yes, I jump to conclusions too quickly. I will look more closely at the machine log. I guess what I meant to say by “resilient” is that after a reboot, the job could resume with at least minimal loss of progress. With a project as big as F@H, one lost WU is not as big of a deal as I first thought. I’ll definitely try to avoid it, just trying to get my feet under me.
