I've had some assignment delays today on a species 7 GPU. I'm not sure if there are shortages for any specific species lately, especially us slower GPU's. I know that there were some shortages for the more powerful GPU's, but I think that has been resolved. I haven't seen anything indicating server issues, so it might just be GPU specific to the species. I haven't seen anything on the Discord, but will let you know if I do.

How long have you gone without assignment?
I havent folded for about 6 years.
So I feel completely new at this again.
I have been trying to get it to work on and off for about a week.
480 is old and nearly obsolete. It will not get too many work units to fold. On top of that future upgrade in HIP will not officially support Poliaris or older GPUs.

Is there any way for you internal testers to see actual numbers of what is in the assignment ques? Just curious, since I had some delays (less than an hour) on a species 7 GPU as well.

No way for us to see, but at the moment there is only one lab holding the fort.
You can see the numbers of jobs in the various queues here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats (it contains a lot of useful information)
Until today, the number of GPU folding jobs has been very small indeed with just over 3,000 available and hence the reason you (and I) were getting a lot of Work Unit unavailable messages. When I just checked, the number stood at 15,000+ and no more waiting until the numbers get very low.
As muziqaz said above. Only one lab was holding the fort.

So are there jobs for AMD GPUs or not? I have a Radeon RX 570. After following the instructions in the forum, it shows up as "supported" but it is not getting any work. I realize it is a bit old, but it seemed to be working well enough when I was running windows (although that was nearly a year ago.)

Yes, there are plenty of work for AMD GPUs. No, there is no work for your GPU. Your GPU is too slow for current crop of projects. There is a chance for Polaris class (the one you have) GPUs getting work in near future, though.

From the way you worded this, are you running the RX 570 now on Linux? If so you will need to run older versions of the drivers, AMD apparently dropped OpenCL support for Polaris based GPUS with ROCm v4.5 for Linux. They appear to have kept it supported in the Windows drivers, haven't seen any notices that has changed. Support to use Polaris GPUs with HIP was deprecated in 2020 from what I see.

It is more of the kernel driver, rather than rocm packages. Yesterday I tried sorting our my RX550 on Linux, and none of the rocm versions worked with that card. The thing is as you mentioned older rocm should have worked (and they did work for me too in the past). But we were using kernel version 6.8 or older back then. Currently we usually sit with 6.12 (6.18 in my case). Support for these old GPU in those drivers is long gone
