I know almost all Work servers are volunteers, but I do see on https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats that there are some official ones.
I also noticed, specially recently, that upload/download from here in South america is ABSURDLY slow. I got 300Mbps upload and 1gbps download, on fiber, and both take multiple minutes(upwards of 20) to finish, which my discourage users from this region.
It might be why some of the biggest users in the top 2 biggest teams(Brazilian ones) have basically given up

And they have Billions of points

Servers are where the labs are. Unless there is a lab in S. America any time soon, there will not going to be any servers added

People donating systems to run the client on are mostly volunteers, there are some corporate and institutional donors as well. But there are only official Work Servers run by the labs doing F@h research. At the moment that only includes locations in the US and Canada. In the past there were work servers located in Europe and Hong Kong.peq42 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 5:31 am I know almost all Work servers are volunteers, but I do see on https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats that there are some official ones.
The Assignment Servers are located in the US running on AWS instances.
There have been intermittent problems with downloads and uploads to client machines located in Europe and elsewhere. Some may be caused by institutional firewalls and routers not giving full speed access. Other causes are being looked into. One cause was found to be related to MTU size settings greater than the default 1500.

Yes, in Europe we do see those intermittent problems, notably with highlands servers. A VPN with exit point on the East coast of the US helps. Though there are also issues with slow uploads/downloads in the US, I had two vast ai instances in Washington that were slower than my computer without VPN.

Will try a VPN as workaround, thanks
