No folding work?

Post by ramelec »

May I know why my status is NO WORK even I leave my desktop on for hours without touching the keyboard?
I installed the latest version from FAH client.
Thanks

What os and what hardware do you have?
What resources did you allocate to folding?

4 servers went down tonight, so yes, expect some WU shortages.

It has been like that since last 2 week
I think it's a bug?

You still haven't listed your hardware resources available for folding and or the client settings. Easiest way is to post the first 100 or so lines of the log after restarting. Not all hardware and settings will get WUs assigned, especially if some projects are not running.

Your system has a Pentium Gold G7400 with an UHD Graphics 710 iGPU. The iGPU is not supported for folding, it is not powerful enough. The CPU has two cores supporting 4 threads. Currently the minimum number of CPU threads that will get an assignment is 3 for most projects. However there is a shortage of WUs that can be assigned due to servers with smaller projects being offline for assignments.

Speaking of, is there an update or timeline for when some of the lower end hardware will get a crack at some WU’s again? I heard something about a glitch in 8.4.9, but there hasn’t been a whole lot said about it. Just wondering if my extra 2 core will see work again or is it time to put it out to pasture

I made a request to bring back 2 thread folding, but none of the project owners replied to this request. However, if/when there is a new CPU project, and 2 thread CPUs can complete them in time, we will add 2 thread support.

The reason why 2 threads were removed was because we tried to reproduce a bug. These attempts failed miserably, so we are trying to get back to 2 thread minimum

My 10 CPU clients are struggling to get work for the last couple days. All are quad core or better up to 16 cores.

I’ve got 2 Mx Macs that aren’t getting WU’s. Are we ever going to see more suitable WU’s? These two machines have been churning out 500,000 ppd when fed with WU’s

The Mac Studio has 8 high performance cores. The last WU I got has the following log:
