Do we still have enough WUs available for 3-4 thread CPUs ?

We rarely made exclusions for 3-4 threads cpus. So, yes

yes
the problem seems not entirely solved this way, now after completing the task default group with GPU only is stalling while CPU is still running WU (and maybe will stall upon completion?)

Code: Select all

18:41:05:I1:WU22:Requesting WU assignment for user d69hw0irhkuy team 234980
18:41:05:I1:OUT243:> POST https://assign3.foldingathome.org/api/assign HTTP/1.1
18:41:06:I1:OUT243:< HTTP/1.1 503 HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
18:41:06:E :OUT243:HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE: {"error":"No appropriate assignment"}
18:41:06:I1:WU22:Retry #217 in 8 mins 32 secs
18:43:38:I1:WU29:Completed 1050000 out of 5000000 steps (21%)
18:46:50:I1:WU29:Completed 1100000 out of 5000000 steps (22%)
18:49:38:I1:WU22:Requesting WU assignment for user d69hw0irhkuy team 234980
18:49:38:I1:OUT244:> POST https://assign4.foldingathome.org/api/assign HTTP/1.1
18:49:39:I1:OUT244:< HTTP/1.1 503 HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
18:49:39:E :OUT244:HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE: {"error":"No appropriate assignment"}
18:49:39:I1:WU22:Retry #218 in 8 mins 32 secs
18:50:01:I1:WU29:Completed 1150000 out of 5000000 steps (23%)
strange thing is that ion same pc with same hardware but with ubuntu server the pc would get job uninterruptedly so maybe this is a windows thing only? could also be the windows server software somehow blocking the WU after completion.

thanks, because there is no work available, or just not for such the under-dimensioned GPU?

or is FAH over-provisioning?

FYI, I am running several machines for CPU-only work, and they are regularly receiving and then returning completed WUs with only 3 CPU threads provisioned. So it doesn’t appear to be a problem of availability.

"Retry 217" tells me that the client has been running for quite some time. Try restarting the service. My guess is it will work. I seem to recall an issue where changes to resources while stuck in "assign wait" don't always take effect until a restart of the client.

Hello , it is still happening;

like int
14:59:27:I1:WU246:Requesting WU assignment for user d69hw0irhkuy team 234980
14:59:28:I1:WU246:Retry #148 in 8 mins 32 secs
15:08:00:I1:WU246:Requesting WU assignment for user d69hw0irhkuy team 234980
15:08:00:I1:WU246:Retry #149 in 8 mins 32 secs
how do you that "restarting the service" on Windows? do you mean "killing" the process completely in task manager and then restart it by clicking on fah icon on windows desktop?

EDIT: did just that, now it would "restart" both CPU and GPU tasks, however, i am getting 100% CPU workload although i have chosen only 3 out of 4 cores available?

https://ibb.co/6Rc4vg0R
https://ibb.co/yBpg2tnY

it seems however, it is not viable solution to restart every time after GPU completed one WU only. This has to be Windows somehow issue, since it seem Ubuntu not affected, even if GPU and CPU are not being assigned to different resource groups. also on a PC running Windows 7 with the same GPU transplanted, the folding would get continuous jobs (at least it did last time i tried).

It is getting 100% workload because GPU folding on Nvidia runs a single core at 100% to "feed" the GPU. So only three cores are folding the CPU task and one of the three cores is feeding the GPU, but it adds up to all four cores running at 100%.
