I'm currently folding P17655 R122 C0 G96, so I am folding generation 96 (or 97, since I think it starts at 0). But there's no 95, or 94, or 93. In fact the last generations are from April 22nd. After that there's just... nothing except one person, zflowers, completing G73 and G87, until G96 suddenly appeared on my box. According to the API, the only generations that exist are 0-58,73,87,96. What's going on?
There is a several month gap in G53 after 5 people failed it in a row on January 16th, with the next success being on April 22nd. I guess that makes sense if it was pulled from circulation for a few months. But that doesn't explain the 36 missing generations.

Re: 38 generations missing from 17655
You are looking too much into this
There many reason why some generations or clones might be missing.
Usually they are not missing, but initial runs did not produce desired results. Or something is broken with specific runs.
Usually there is no reason to panic about these things or get obsessed
Researchers see these things themselves.

Where did generation 96 come from then? Is it a direct continuation of generation 87?
I'm just curious. I'm sure nothing is wrong with the project itself. WUs don't appear out of thin air, after all. But it had to have come from *somewhere*.

Missing generations might have been folded in the lab. As I said you are looking too much into this. It is fine. Researcher has all this info and more available to them

Re: 17655 missing 36 generations?
My theory was that there were problems with the WU and it was started fresh, but without changing the run or clone. But when I checked state.xml.bz2, it says it's already been through 240000196 steps, so that debunked that idea. That leaves a glitch in the servers, and the missing generations being folded in the lab as you say. Since there were a lot of failures on G53, that would make sense. Anyway I'll leave this one a mystery and worry about other things (like why I wasted 17 hours folding a WU, twice, just for the stupid dynamic timeout to give it to someone else).
I was just curious.

It is a mistery for you. Researcher has the full picture and would react to it if things go crazy
