Potential Future Additions to GPUs.txt? Nvidia RTX Pro 6000 and eGPU RTX 5090M ?

Post by Jimboc »

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all doing well today.

I wish to ask if the following upcoming GPU and eGPU will be supported in the future for use with the FAH 8.4.9 client? My educated guess is yes, using the current contents of GPUs.txt but I wish to verify this before I purchase these GPUs in the near future (currently shows the presence of the RTX 5000 and the RTX 5090M)

Thanks in advance for any clarification.

If you see them in GPUs.txt or GPUs.json, they are supported, yes. However in rare event that it is not on GPUs.txt list, we can easily add it, if you provide us with PCI ID, which can be read from GPUZ utility. AMD and nVidia new GPUs are always going to be added. Intel or other more exotic ones would not be guaranteed.

About the only problem might be if used as an external GPU connected through an eGPU expansion. Some people have reported issues on how the eGPU becomes active, and whether it is detected as a PCIe device. I don't know if anyone has posted recently on that.

I think it is detected correctly. Someone was folding on AMD gpu through e-gpu enclosure. Though at some point things started going bad for one reason or the other

Hello again muziqaz and Joe_H,

Absolutely, I will provide the PCI ID if the ePGU is not detected. It's likely obvious but it is a Nvidia GPU, the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 5090 namely the 5090M. It was released in February and is available to pre-order right now. It will be available from the 30th April. I intend to buy mine in late June this year.

If all goes well, I hope to purchase the NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 before the end of 2025.

About the detection of the eGPU, I'm hoping they're won't be issues in that regard, let's wait and see. It will be connected using Thunderbolt 4 (very similar but not the same as a USB C port).

Many thanks to you both for so promptly responding to my questions. Enjoy the remainder of the weekend 8-)
