One Project on two computers

Post by brugen »

I signed up to FAH yesterday. I have two computers and both are working on the same project 18806. Is one of them doing nugatory work and should be turned off? Are both of them adding to the same result quicker? Are both of them working on the same project but both will give different results thus helping the research?

Unless you cloned the installation from one computer to another, they should be working on two different WUs from that project. Compare the Run, Clone and Gen numbers for the WUs. Installed properly, the client o each machine is assigned an unique ID the first time it connects to the servers. That ID is used to keep the servers from assigning the same WU to that machine. And normally each WU is only assigned once, the exception occur if a WU is retired with an error, it will be reassigned a fw times to see if the problem was the WU or just on the machine it errored out on.
