Requested GPU work unit, got CPU work unit 144.121.86.56

This is a new one for me, and I can't be sure it's a problem that is ongoing or a freak thing.

The assigned CPU work unit crashed, and had crashed for another user just before being assigned to me.

Upon crashing/exiting/returning failed results, the next work unit was in fact a GPU work unit. Since the project has been around for a while, I'm assuming either it's just a freak that slipped through somehow, or a recent change made to cause such a thing to happen.

Also of note, it appears that it tried to start the WU near the end of it...

Found out what the client is trying to download is the core program to work with WUs for that core program.
If you don't have the core program, any WUs you get that need that program for it will never work ever.
Still strange that it will download to 2% or up to 60% and fail every time.
core_a9 program gets stuck.

And at the same time I'm getting errors from any WUs that run on iGPUs. At first there were no WUs available and then when I finally got work. I don't know if it started right away but I get errors like this over a dozens of times. Still running for some reason.

In my case the core update downloaded in about 30 seconds on the first try. But it also appears to have downloaded a CPU work unit at the same time, and start it from a checkpoint.

Since I hadn't been CPU folding or requested a CPU work unit, that part makes no sense.



As for the iGPU errors, I can say that I had a couple of occasions on my AMD iGPU (2400G Vega 11) that once it had an error it would want to error on the following units. Driver updates seem to have cleared that up. I went though a period where I would always set the iGPU folding to "finish" until it seemed to be stable again.

Which client version are you using?

I've been running v8 client on some of our spare lab workstations (all the same build, some different software installs depending on prior user). Periodically, one of them will lose the ability to fold on the GPU. I've found that restarting fah-client, on linux:

ends up with the GPU recognized again.
