8.3.17 will only get 1 work unit, then unable to connect until restart processes

I downloaded the latest v8 "fah-client_8.3.17_AMD64.exe" on win10 21h1. It will get 1 work unit on startup, complete then cannot get anymore work until I kill the processes and restart. I do not know if it was able to send the result before restart.
But with 7.6.21 it works just fine. Change in ports to connect to server? But why does it always work once on every start of processes? I get error in log "HTTP_SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE: {"error":"No appropriate assignment"}". I'll just stick with this version it just works!

Please post the client log. Include the first 200 lines that show system info. And include all errors and surrounding lines.

I think there is a forum limit for posts of 60,000 characters.

If you are trying to fold on only one cpu, that could be the problem.

By default last 99 logs are kept. Currently the default rotation is once per day, and also each restart of the client.

If you are only GPU folding, you can set cpus to zero.

Yes i had it set to 1 CPU in the web interface so only 1 GPU cruncher process was running. But how would that results in server connection error? I left it overnight it would not get another GPU WU.

Other than "DNS lookup failed for assign2.foldingathome.org ",
I'm not seeing a connection error.
It's a no work available for the resources you have allocated to folding.

It looks like a gpu WU is running and the client fails to get an assignment for remaining cpus.

Assuming this is still v8, please set to finish.
When all is paused, change cpus to zero.
Then Fold.

Looks like there is a permission problem with a work log too.
This might be because the core was killed before closing the file.

It might be a log rotation bug that was fixed after that core was built.

Upon restarting the process, it would find work for the GPU but not if i leave it open. Log is saying no WUs available? Could be coincidence that work becomes available after i restart. I know there isn't a lot of GPU work (~176K vs ~1215K CPU https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats) I have downgraded back to v7.6.21 since this morning will stay with tried and true for meow

Bit if a hammer, but you might try disabling the periodic log rotation.

In config.xml add

And restart client. Maybe reboot.

If config.xml was empty, it would be
