It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.
I'm quite new to folding, so I hope to provide all info needed to solve my issue.
When i start folding, my CPU is used 100% but my GPU is used only by 1%.
PPD for my GPU are ~100k.
I dont know whats wrong
My system:
WIN 11 Pro
GPU Driver Version: 22.10.17.01
Client Version: 7.6.21
We usually ask for the first 100 or so lines of the log as that will include the configuration information for the folding client. Without that here are a few things I am guessing at.
First, do you have a passkey entered? That affects the points estimates as a significant portion of the points awarded are based on how quickly a WU is returned. It takes 10 WUs returned with a passkey to actually receive the bonus points, the client does not query the servers to see if a passkey has been qualified for bonus or is valid. The client just bases the estimates on whether or not a passkey has been entered.
Second, the first time the client processes a WU from a project its estimates of points take several percentages of completion to settle to a reliable figure. Before that the estimates are based on the timeout period, not the actual processing time. The client does keep a small database of projects that have been worked on and can make better estimates the next time a WU from a project it has data on is processed.
Third, if you are getting the 1% usage of your GPU from Windows Task Manager the default graphs are for video utilization. You need to select one of the graphs and change its reporting to one of the Compute usages. The exact one will depend on OS and patch version as well as whether you have an AMD or Nvidia GPU. Or you can use a third party monitoring tool such as GPU-Z.

Hi Joe,
thanks for the help. Your third point was spot on. Didn't know that there are different graphs to display in Task Manager...
Computing usage is ~94%. So everything is going fine
Thank you again for the quick response!
Would have got back to you sooner, your post came in at the same time as an account spammer was hitting the forum from a certain East European country. They have been blocked, now just have to finish removing the rest of the accounts they spam created.
