CS 129.32.209.202 and 128.252.203.1

Post by WerndelinMunichWays »

Hello,

I just checked the availability of both mentioned servers. Apparently, they do not feed back their state (network issues?). But having had a look at my log, they appear to accept incoming WU at a very low rate. Does anyone know when they will be back fully operational? Further, I noted that there is a CS with the IP 0.0.0.0. What does that completed WU? The log of my client can be sent on request.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Wendelin

Collection Server 0.0.0.0 just means that there is no CS for this work unit, and it is only returnable to the Work Server that issued the WU.

The default return location is for a WU to go back to the WS that assigned it. A CS is only used if the upload attempt to the WS does not succeed. If a WU is returned to a CS, it then needs to be transferred back to its WS for the next Gen WU to be created and also for the credit to be sent to the stats database. That can happen the next time a network connection can be made between the two servers, or after the WS is back up after being down.

If a CS of 0.0.0.0 is listed in the client, then no CS was assigned when that WU was downloaded to your client. The return will only go back to the WS.

I have just checked the logs a bit closer. My client connects fine to the designated CS; but in the end, it boils down to this message:

Code: Select all

ERROR:WU07:FS00:Exception: 10002: Received short response, expected 512 bytes, got 0
Is there a way to contact the operators of the servers affected?

Kind Regards,

One thing worth doing is checking the wu status app and seeing if the wu (prcg) has actually been received either from your kit and the comms just isn't working right or from someone else .. if it has then you could delete the wu (ask if you need help with this) .. if has been received from you then you will get points - if not from you but someone else then you need to be award you won't get points if you take this option but at least if will stop you kit retrying to send something that isn't needed any more for the science .. if the wu hasn't been received successfully yet it is worth leaving the client to retry on the hope if completes upload before expiration

Well, I did check the server stats. The only trouble is the wasted energy for the discarded WU. But anyway, I have strong belief Dr Voelz brings his servers back online again!
