Missing credit server 128.252.203.11

Post by comixgoddess »

The following WU's were successfully uploaded to server 128.252.203.11, but no credit was issued. In all instances, I received the "WORK_ACK" response and a final credit estimate. My work units couldn't be found on the WU Status page, but I did find a previously completed unit by another folder for each one.

I'm seeing the same thing on the subject server.

The following WU's were successfully uploaded to the subject server, but no credit was issued. I have checked the WU Status of each at https://apps.foldingathome.org/wu, and they were all previously returned by another user.

I will pass this on, they have been having intermittent problems like this as they update and set up projects on the new servers.

Let us keep our fingers crossed, that any new grants which are allocated to fund F@H (or the Universities behind the projects we are helping with) in 2021, will allow for hiring additional IT support staff (to keep up with doing the maintenance/upgrades).

Generally speaking, when grants are allocated by Government or other means, they can be very restricted in what F@H can do with them. It has been that way when dealing with public grants. Hence, public donations (https://anand-bhat.github.io/foldingath ... contribute) are really valuable since they can be used for any reason by F@H :)

I'm making a note to offer a few $$$ once the post holiday bills are paid.... Starting w/my local electric co-op so the lights & heat stay on, the water is warm, and the folding continues.

If I had more experience as an IT professional, I'd volunteer my time to help w/the regular server maintenance. If only to be compensated with a 1/2 liter cup of fresh coffee in the morning.

FYI, if you're keen to volunteer for F@H, have a look at the Discord Dev since that's where you can volunteer too. Of course, volunteering on the Forum is also fantastic too :)

FYI, when it comes to Server Maintenance, it would be very tricky to provide access to volunteers since those Servers live in different organizations meaning that there's various paperwork involved depending on where you live and what not. The HR/Legal overhead might be enough to not pursue this.

I've been trying to help on the forum as much as I can (with the limited knowledge of the various distributions of Linux; and 0% knowledge of cloud computing)...

Yeah, the travel time from VA to where the servers are, and the legal/HR overhead would be a bit much. I'll just build a few more folding systems as my money supply allows. Besides, I'm not wanting to physically enter a foreign country right now.

As was previously stated, government grants for research are frequently restricted to RESEARCH, so the tasks associated with support staff generally falls to grad students or other "volunteers." Then, too, each University has it's own network administration staff with their own policies (and they don't work for FAH).

Hi,

i also finished several WUs from this server without getting credits, first noted on project:16459 run:40 clone:3 gen:68 (completed on 2020-01-04 16:02:43). Going backwards on the 'gen' number using the WU app i noticed that the last WU from my run which has been credited was gen 55, credited on 2021-01-01 00:50:37 - every WU after this date is missing, so probably the server connection to the stats server broke at this time.

Cheers,

hopefully the stats setup for this server will get a kick soon ... in the mean time as long as you are getting the successful upload confirmation messages and estimated points statements in the logs you can start looking forward to the bumper points spike when the service catches up (as it invariable does eventually). :)
