Noise on USB audio when folding

Post by MoelTryfan »

New client appears to create noise on USB outputs when folding. Had never noticed it on previous version. Core i7 7700K in Ausus Prime B250M-A with MSI GTX 970 Gaming and Behringer UMC204HD DAC running 64bit W10 Build 20226.
Pausing folding stops the noise. Any suggestions?

Hmmm ... wonder if this is another report linked to same issue as the "cracking" thread ... on phone so hard to link but two instances of audio issues maybe is the start of a trend? ... might be worth linking topics?

On some work units, after the release of the new CUDA-enabled core, I'm experiencing a lot of coil whine on my Asus GTX 1080 ROG Strix. The Moonshot sprint WUs produced some slight crackling in my headphones (PCI-e soundcard, Asus Strix Soar) but the card was quiet from outside the case. With a different WU the coil whine can be heard from across the room with other ambient noises present. Downclocking reduces the amount of whining, but it's still audible.

I'm guessing that the crackling noise I hear in my headphones is picked up by the soundcard due to the proximity of the GPU.

@Neil-B: No this is a different issue than the cracking sound thread, because this thread "noise on USB" goes away when FAH is stopped. The cracking sound from other thread is permanent even without FAH running. Still it maybe has the same solution...

Maybe it helps to put some ferrite core ring EMI filter around the headset cable? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Braid-bre ... _shell.jpg

Ah ok ... earlier in the thread I thought it indicated a link with FaH ... hopefully these posters dont find it turns permanent :(
