Palit Geforce FTX 1650 StormX OC 4gb

Post by queluomo1 »

Hi, just bought this new graphics card for folding on my old XEON rig. I was under the assumption that the GTX 1650 was supported, however the client doesn't see this card. I tried reinstalling multiple times but to no avail. Can anybody help, please?

I'm running a GTX1650 so it's certainly supported. Please post the top couple of pages of FAH's log (see my sig block below) and we can help you figure it out.

I also run two GTX 1650 cards, by MSI.

If I had to make a guess about your problem with no data whatsoever, like now, I would ask you to download the latest driver straight from Nvidia. I can't link the perfect driver as I do not know what Operating system you are using.

If it is 64 Windows 10 in English https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/results/162983/

Another possibility is this card may have a device ID number that is different from the half dozen or so already identified and included in the GPUs.txt file. Running FAHClient --lspci or GPU-Z would show the Device ID associated with your card.

Hi, thanks for your answer. Before sending the log I've performed an uninstallation of the existing driver and got the newest one from Nvidia. The problem, however, still persists.

This is the log:

I'm trying to add a couple of screenshots, but I can't find out how to... However, trying to validate with GPU-Z I got this info...

Okay, the output of GPU-z has identified your GPU as having Device ID 10DE:2188, that is a variant that is not currently in the GPUs.txt file. Its entry would go in after this one:

Code: Select all

0x10de:0x2187:2:7:TU116 [GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER]
What is the description of your GTX 1650 so that can be entered when the GPUs.txt file is updated? Bruce or one of the other persons who maintain the file can add it and post here when that is done.

Edit: As I wrote this, there are a total of 8 different Device ID entries in the file for both desktop and mobile GPUs. For this new variant, a couple reviews indicate this one is based on a new chip, the TU 117

No wonder it wouldn't work.

This variation has been added to the list of supported GPUs.

Help the community by submitting a validation from the 4th tab. (WHICH I ALREADY DID)

I apologise for not being conversant with the use of forums. So what should I do next please? I'd like to send you screenshots o the web control, advanced control, device manager and GPU-Z but I can't figure a way to do it here.

Many thanks again,

Sergio, they have added your card to GPUs.txt at the server.
If your client is not currently folding, then you can find and delete GPUs.txt off your PC, which will cause it to download a new version.

I hope this helps! Your GTX 1650 should get more Point Per Day than mine do.

Our only concern is FAH. By adding the device 10DE 2188 to GPUs.txt, I've enabled the device for FAH. The exact spelling of the name is not important to us.

How to report it to GPU-Z is up to them.

The database entry at TechPowerUp - https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/p ... ormx.b6898 - includes a picture of the GPU chip, clearly marked as being a TU117.

Both Devicehunt and pci-ids.ucw.cz agree on the TU116 designation ... if you want a TU117, it's 1f82 / TU117 [GeForce GTX 1650] ...

Note that the entire family in this range of IDs is using TU116 :
2184 / TU116 [GeForce GTX 1660]
2187 / TU116 [GeForce GTX 1650 SUPER]
2188 / TU116 [GeForce GTX 1650]

The 1650 Super and the 1660 have 50% more processor units on the chip than the 1650 models. Both 1650 models listed through other sources show them as using the TU117, just slightly different variants as they were released a year apart.
