I run a few foldfromhome instances on free Linux servers provided by some cloud providers (thought they could help out with a good cause ). I would like this to be as "hands off" as possible from my part and just run year in and year out.
Sadly there is today, as far as I have found, no way to *easily* check if there is a newer version to upgrade to or even download the latest version from a script - it seems like you need to know the link to download (wget). One can "screen scrap" the latest version I suppose but this seems "fragile" and something that can break if the layout of the web page change.
I would really appreciate if this could be fixed in a way that is likely to work for many years.

Welcome to the F@H Forum MagnusStockholm,
Historically, there has been a new release every few years so it isn't like the current Firefox/Chrome where there's a new version every 6 weeks. Having said that, there's an enhancement issue here: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/1404

You can get the new client program (or it's download location and name) here:
https://download.foldingathome.org/rele ... 4bit/v7.6/
wget it and installing goes well over SSH.

Note, that link is only to the FAHClient package and has more than one version present of 7.6. There are separate links for FAHControl and FAHViewer.

As a general rule, the analysis software (FAHCore_xx) autoupdates without bothering you. FAHClient does not, but for the most part older versions keep working so a notification will be helpful but you can ignore it.PantherX wrote:Historically, there has been a new release every few years so it isn't like the current Firefox/Chrome where there's a new version every 6 weeks.
