I belong to a team and am interested in also joining with another team which requires me to use a different name & of course, they have a different team number. In the web client there is an option to change identity. Clicking on that it shows name, team number, & passkey.
I'm assuming if I change the name and team, that will make the switch and give future credit to that team, with the passkey keeping my total score & ranking progressing. When I want to go back to the original team and resume giving them points, I change name and team # back to where it was?
Is this correct?
My concern is when I look at my stats page, it's under my donor name, if I enter a different name in the F@H client, might that cause a problem in any way?
Thanks.

The change will take effect on the next Work Unit. It should not cause an issue.

Re: Change identity / team question
A follow-up. There does seem to be an issue when you change the name and the team, but not the passkey.
My assumption was the passkey was the key to giving credit across multiple machines to one total score. Apparently the name has to be the same across as well. What I found was a WU that was rated at 160,000 points was given at 1,500 points & given to the assigned team, but it is an orphan, under the different name and not attached to any of my prior work.
I assume after 10 WUs it would start giving higher points but to get the bonus points, I would need a new passkey for this and would have two separate "Total Scores" which cannot be combined.
So it does "work", but not the way I hoped.

If you want them combined why use a different name? They will combine with the same name and key. You can use the same name on multiple teams.

Re: Change identity / team question
The basics of Username and Passkey is that a username and passkey combination gets qualified for the bonus points after completing and turning in 10 WUs. Does not matter which Team. A different pairing of username and passkey, even if the same passkey, has to do the same 10 WUs before getting the bonus.
At one time the stats database search did have an option to search just based on the passkey. That went away during one of the modifications made to the stats over the last couple years. A request was put in to return that functionality, no idea if or when that might occur.

Re: Change identity / team question
Good question. I have 4 GPUs running doing WUs for Covid research. I'm enjoying helping out a team and have donated a lot of points there. I recently read on the EVGA website that they give an in house credit for future purchases if you make X amount of points when on their team, so I want points to go to two teams. That's easy, just enter the two different team numbers and go.cfhdev wrote:If you want them combined why use a different name? They will combine with the same name and key. You can use the same name on multiple teams.
However EVGA requires your folding name be the one you log in with them to get the credit. My folding name is 4 characters and they require 5, so I can't just join again there with my folding name. As I'll probably get their next improved GPU for folding (I have no games in the computers), I might as well make it with a discount when I do. At over a grand just for a GPU, I'll take any break I can get.
Hence the need for two names.
I wrote them for clarification but no reply. Others have said there that using my folding name in their data entry location will work in spite of their rule.
