Webclient - Incorrect amount of points shown

Post by Mortivor_81 »

Hi there,

I have installed the F@H client on a second computer. When I take a look at my Donor Info, it says "10 WU, 4851 points". But the Webclient only shows 525. Why doesn't it show the correct amount?

The Donor lookup on the stats site is just by username, the info shown in Web Control searches by both username and passkey. If you recently added a passkey, that would be just the points earned since adding it.

...OK; I added that passkey just a few days back (after I already calculated a few WU); So in essence I do have two accounts now. One consisting of only my username and one consisting of my username and passkey. Can I somehow merge those two?

Welcome to the F@H Forum Mortivor_81,

Unfortunately, you can't merge those "two" accounts. In F@H, Usernames are not unique so anyone can use the same Donor name. What's unique is your passkey thus the combination of username/passkey becomes your identity.

So, how can I view the donor info of my "username + passkey"? The normal donor info (in my case https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/Mortivor_81) show only the points related to my "username".

Is there any plan for the future to assign a passkey to a new user automatically. So he/she would not find out, do that later and suddenly has "two stats". Would be much less confusing i think. :)

This tool will only show you the completed WUs with the username and passkey: https://apps.foldingathome.org/bonus

AFAIK, the usage of passkey has been optional. While it is recommended for security reasons and bonus points, it isn't a requirement so far. I don't know of any plans to change that.

I had the same problem and it really sucks because I'm folding since may 2005 and for as far back as I remember, I always used a passkey but it only show 2.5 million out of 35 million points I had since 2005...

AFAIK, back in those days, not all WUs were QRB eligible thus, they didn't have the passkey attached to them which would explain why they don't show up when searching with the passkey/username combination.

Yes that's right. I remember the first days of QRB bonus and I got about 1.55 million with that before I left...

I'm just trying to understand the motivation of showing only the number related to the donor ID with passkey because if we clink the link beside the number, it bring me to the stats page (https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/Xilikon) which display the total. Maybe it's better to show the total and maybe add a line for total with donor id/passkey so there is less confusion. For those who are new or joined only a couple of years ago, it might not be a issue but for old timers like me, it's confusing.

Humm... that's interesting and I don't really use Web Control so don't notice it. However, I can see you POV so have raised an enhancement request here: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-issues/issues/1463
