Has folding returned to normal for you?

Post by Unclebadtouch »

I still have trouble getting W/U's in a timely manner. So, my usual PPD has not returned to what it was prior to March 13th.

In general, yes. I am having a PC that needs help once a day, but by and at large they are folding 100% of the time.

3 (midrange) Nvidia GPU clients, 7 (wimpy) Intel CPU clients.

You're lucky, then. I have a 970, 1080, and 2080 super. I should be getting ~2.7M PPD. Only getting 1.2-2.2M

Over the last couple days it's been pretty consistent. I almost always have CPU WUs, but periodically my GPU will idle for an hour or three.

Past few days have been better! Not many failed attempts to download/upload a WU

More failures to upload finished work but I'm at least getting work.

I'm a new folder. For the first week or so, I noticed a considerable lag in getting work units. I've now been getting pretty consistent CPU work , running a MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017).

CPU is working all the time.

On the contrary, GPU is never working.

It disturbs me a little. :-(

@matitaccia … If never is actually never you may have a problem … feel free to post your log (inc top 200 lines or so with the config) and people can see if they can spot anything and help?

GPU assignment worked like charm last 24 hours - no pauses between WU, daily points maxed out... then it stopped again.

@DmitryKo: We're still hard at work scaling up to meet the demand for more GPU work units, but we've got some new COVID-19 projects we are working on scaling up right now that will provide many more GPU WUs and help us prioritize compounds for the COVID Moonshot!

There seems to more regular jobs especially for GPUs - that is good. Uploads and Downloads are very slow - a sign the servers are being overloaded with work units coming and going. I don't envy you guys in the IT areas - you must be going flat out to try and upscale as per the previous post. You all deserve a medal for your patience.

Cheers

I've had a constant stream of GPU for the last couple of days, so it looks like things are getting better.

I'm doing my best to steal them all, but my 1660 Ti can only do so much!
