Given that the Donor is running Windows with a single GPU, the client should correctly detect the GPU and set it up. Thus, they can remove this setting from the configuration:
17:20:48: <opencl-index v='0'/>

Once done, it may resolve that issue. If not, please provide a fresh set of logs with the updated client configuration :)

It can be removed from the Slots Tab in the Configuration of FAHControl. Generally speaking, using FAHControl to modify the config.xml file is the recommended way.

You'll notice that OpenCL is not configured in the logs you posted. The lines containing "OpenCL Device N" are missing. FAH does not support CUDA at the present time. If he installed the drivers directly from nvidia.com, they include a usable version of OpenCL runtime.

Why is the person with the problem not asking us for support?

ah, thank you all for your help and patience with this! For some reason we had a lot of trouble finding that OpenCL Device line... it just wasn't there. Finally confirmed it just wasn't there by seeing the opencl checkbox in GPU-Z as unchecked! so we:

Uninstalled FAH
reinstalled nvidia driver from their site
rebooted (GPU-Z showed the opencl checkmark!)
reinstalled FAH

Code: Select all

We ran into trouble with the client not letting the GPU slot get added, however. And the funny thing is, after a few minutes of just staring at it wondering what to do, the gpu slot added itself :eo

His PPD shot thru the roof and is now blazing past 2% progress as opposed to before throwing out the platformid error.
Thanks for all the help and letting me learn along the way.
