I have leafed quickly through the posted sticky about the beta team. As i understand it, there are certain expectations and requirements to run beta WUs and be on the beta test team.
Due to the amazing citizen response and shortages in WUs, I've frequently noticed on social media ppl recommending to use beta. I'm wondering if that will have a negative impact on the beta team actually trying to do their jobs? Will the random ppl folding beta just to not be idle actually slow down the process of getting a WU into general release by sucking up all the beta WUs?
thanks

Unfortunately, doing so would cause issues for everyone Reason is that the Beta team doesn't get the WUs meaning that the researchers don't get the feedback that they want. This leads to a longer beta run since the researchers need to make sure that:

1) Runs on a variety of hardware. If it fails, they can block it on the Server level
2) Ensures that the points are within the acceptable range. Too low, some donors will not be happy. Too high, other donors will not be happy. Thus, it is important to ensure that the points are within the acceptable variance.
Here's an example where the researcher gets a lot of "completed WUs" but with no feedback of any sort which makes their job difficult as they are expected to make decisions without any "data" viewtopic.php?p=325796#p325796

How about advanced? Would that be okay?

Nothing wrong with using advanced, if you happen to notice something wrong with a WU you should report it.

Beta team is for beta team. if you are prepared to post up failures or get no points, and have an interest in making everything better for others, then join. If not use advanced.
