Dell R610 Connecting to Team Issue
Hello!
We are working on adding servers to participate with all this.
Now we installed the Folding @ home project on our Linux Ubuntu server via CLI. The server is getting jobs we also have access to the Web Control V7.4.4 and it is receiving jobs and working. The issue is the server never connects with the team we have added the following details to the server via command line /etc/fahclient/config.xml and within the web control:
Name
Team #
Passkey
All seems well however the web control never loads the team or connects to the team in the panel itself and the server completed jobs, points, or server name never go to our team.
Please refer to the screenshot provided. Please note we have tested the server for network access and DNS settings and load issues among other things and we can not find a reason for this to happen. Do you have any thoughts or maybe perhaps is there a log we can look at for this?
Image in reference to Web Control: https://ibb.co/9pX0K15
Thanks!

Welcome to the F@H Forum Fusion Arc Hosting,
Can you please post your log file. Ensure that you have copied the System configuration which is present at the start of the log file: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26036
My initial guess is that you need to successfully fold a WU, have it successfully upload to the F@H Servers and then the Stats system needs to update itself. It can few hours since the time your first WU was successfully completed and uploaded

Hi PantherX,
Thank you for the follow up!
Your reference to link for the topic helped a lot I found the logs:
Log Start:
Please note the server has folded for about 24 hours. With all that being said I am sure this is something we can figure out
and thank you for the welcome it is good to be here! Let me know your thoughts I will be looking at the log also for any signs.
Thanks!

Thanks for the log... I can see it is folding a WU but it hasn't uploaded a WU. Look for something similar in your log file:

Re: Dell R610 Connecting to Team Issue
Hi PantherX,
Thanks for the response.
Interesting so I looked a log from earlier today it seems and found the following:
It has quite a bit of those. However one thing to note is that I also see a lot of interrupted messages most likely from us shutting down the process and editing the configuration file. Good job me! XD
So now as with the name possibly being an issue this could indeed be it. We have tried using different names:
*LINUX-NODE0001_R610(Network-POP:ODIN_Gypsum-Colorado)
*R610_FusionArcHosting-Node#1(Gypsum_Colorado)
So maybe lets just try something simple for a day or two and not interupt the system. How about we use the name "Dell_R610_FAH_1" based on the page https://foldingathome.org/faqs/statisti ... -username/ I believe this should work.
Currently this is our config and I believe it should work:
Thoughts?
Thanks!

Hello again,
Also one thing to note is we are seeing it only use a small percentage of CPU power. Any idea why that may be?
Thanks!

Re: Dell R610 Connecting to Team Issue
From your log in your first post, I noticed this:
03:12:37:WU22:FS00:0xa7:Calling: mdrun -s frame9.tpr -o frame9.trr -x frame9.xtc -cpi state.cpt -cpt 15 -nt 1
-nt 1 means to use only a single CPU out of 16 which may explain the low CPU usage you're seeing. If you have 16 CPUs, and want to dedicate 12 to folding to keep 2 "spare", this would be your configuration file:
You can use values that are not prime or multiples of 5. Safe values are; 8, 12, 16, 24 and 32.
I believe that the simple username can suffice. Just keep an eye on this site: https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/Dell_R610_FAH_1 and check back in about 24 hours or so assuming you would have successfully folded a WU and returned it and the Stats system processed it
03:12:37:WU22:FS00:0xa7:Calling: mdrun -s frame9.tpr -o frame9.trr -x frame9.xtc -cpi state.cpt -cpt 15 -nt 1
-nt 1 means to use only a single CPU out of 16 which may explain the low CPU usage you're seeing. If you have 16 CPUs, and want to dedicate 12 to folding to keep 2 "spare", this would be your configuration file:
Code: Select all
03:54:16: <slot id='0' type='CPU'>
03:54:16: <cpus v='12'/>
03:54:16: </slot>

Re: Dell R610 Connecting to Team Issue
Hi PantherX,
Got you ok so I added the <cpus v='16'/> in the config and the web controller now does show CPU:16 and is showing as running. I added the 16 since the server really is not doing much so its usage in CPU is usually at 0.5%.
Unfortunately the usage for the CPU is still seems like its being limited at 100% it does not seem to want to use more. So hmm that is interesting.

Very good I will do that.I believe that the simple username can suffice. Just keep an eye on this site: https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/Dell_R610_FAH_1 and check back in about 24 hours or so assuming you would have successfully folded a WU and returned it and the Stats system processed it
Re: Dell R610 Connecting to Team Issue
You'll probably have to wait until the current WU is completed and the next one is downloaded before you see the effects of the change.
Did you make that change with a editor or did you use FAHControl?

Hey Bruce,
Thanks for the question and comment.
Awesome! So pretty much all around the goal here is patience and let it do its thing for a day or two and then check the stats and then web control if nothing then come back here. Got you
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks!

Yeah I edited this in the CLI vim /etc/fahclient/config.xm and then shut down the process via sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient stop and then sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient start. After that I verified the update of the CPU count in the web control and also verified it is running via sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient status and then checking the process at the CLI with the top command.Did you make that change with a editor or did you use FAHControl?
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks!
