How often does a computer talk back to the server? How long does it take? Or said another way, how much will another computer on my home network slow down my main working computer when it is talking to the server? Thanks your your feedback.

This depends on your client type and computer speed, as it varies widely between projects. Downloads for Windows projects that I've seen range anywhere from 1MB to 5MB, and uploading results can be 1-22MB. The log files will tell you exact amounts. If you are concerned about total bandwidth usage, install a monitor on your PCs or on your router and watch it for a few days.

Or say "no" to Big WUs in v5 or "small" (or "normal") to WU size in v6... which will limit your bandwidth usage to 5MB/5MB/10MB each way for each unit transfer respectively.

GPU2 WUs finish quickly, so they are sent several (10?) times a day. SMP WUs finish in a day or so. CPU WUs take anywhere from several hours to several weeks. The large WUs also tend to take more time to process...

In any case, they don't take more than a minute or 2 each time on a cable or DSL connection; usually just a few seconds.

If you've got a setup like mine, several computers connected to a router which is connected to either DSL or cable, you won't notice anything. The only time there will be any tendency to slow down your main computer is when your main computer is actually moving data to or from the internet (like when your browser is opening a new page). There will be no difference except if that happens to be the once-a-day or so that FAH is talking to its server, the router will manage data from both connections and you'll still get reasonable speed, just slightly slower. I'll bet you never notice.
