So there's a reason why we're needed, even supercomputers don't come near this compute performance.
Really where i can see these numbers ? Is it true, i have no reason suppose you are lying, but i would like to see that ! Ah never mind i found that: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/3a8e ... oronavirus
But didn't see it posted on main site. That's cool, more computing power than top 100 supercomputers combined. I can't even imagine such a power
Can find anywhere number of active users ? What the heck, only 400k users joined since pandemic started, now probably more, but still it is only 1:7000 of people, some people own multiple computers, but still imagine, if like 1 billion of people joined yikes !

If people were so generous towards science all times, we would be already in another galaxy...

I use this as a rough idea. Do note that EOC does capture majority of the active users but not all based on the filtering in place, it would be at least 169,087 active folders with 36,338 new folders who joined over the last 7 days: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com ... ary.php?s=

The stats are here: https://stats.foldingathome.org/os

It currently shows: 1,554,728 TF, which is a bit over 1.5 EF

Although ... I don't believe that number is correct. It has remained exactly that value for about a week and I bet it's actually quite a bit higher than that, probably 2 EF+ at this point.

EOC only show users in the top 800 teams iirc - whilst that may well be a majority of the users there will be many more besides so an estimate of the number of folders active using those stats might be low

FYI, there's a recent update at EOC where the top 12,000 teams are processed. Plus individual stats are added when you reach 800 for a normal team but if your team is very active, then you can be added in when your rank within the team is 1,200 - 2,000. However, you're right that the EOC estimate is a lower one and the actual number will always be higher than EOC's one.
