Re: running out of work/projects
Please note that when a WU is requested, the FAHClient will only talk to the AS (Assignment Server). This server knows all the WS (Work Server) which has WUs to be allocated. It will check what WU your client is requesting and will direct it to the best matching WS. Thus, you can see different IPs as there are many WS (and hopefully, new ones will appear online).

I haven't had a WU for the past 3 days. I'm beginning to think that folding@home is a waste of time.

Welcome to the F@H Forum Vulcan94,
I have gotten WUs every few hours. Can you please post your log file. Ensure that you have copied the System configuration which is present at the start of the log file so we can see what's happen to your system.

Re: running out of work/projects
regchan, you can try configuring your client to accept advanced projects, like this:
Restart the client after applying the changes.

Re: running out of work/projects
Are advanced projects available for GPUs also or is this a CPU only thing?Jorgeminator wrote:regchan, you can try configuring your client to accept advanced projects, like this:

I have a workstation with a NVIDIA Quadro P4000 and I would like to know if this option makes sense of me too.

Re: running out of work/projects
Both CPU and GPU projects go through the advanced stage before being released to full production. The advanced option is just an extension, it allows you to get advanced projects if there are any. If the advanced projects run out you will get normal projects instead, so there is nothing to lose.
Re: running out of work/projects
That's cool, I managed to get all my hosts and slots loaded by signing up to the advanced projects! I wasn't aware that this needed opting in.
Can you elaborate on the nature of these projects? Is there a higher chance that they return some kind of error? Does it only download them if it can't find work for default projects or have both types equal priority?

Re: running out of work/projects
They can be slightly less stable than the normal projects, but they have gone through the beta phase so any obvious problems should be cleared already. The client will first try to get a WU from an advanced phase project, then goes to the normal pool if nothing is available there.Azmodes wrote:That's cool, I managed to get all my hosts and slots loaded by signing up to the advanced projects! Interesting you've seen no work.Vulcan94 wrote:I haven't had a WU for the past 3 days. I'm beginning to think that folding@home is a waste of time.
I've signed up to F@H a couple of days ago and got a couple of friends to participate too. My work and home computers and my friend's computers have all been processing work units. There have been quiet spells but at least one computer has processed multiple work units.
Is your firewall restricting F@H from communicating with the servers? Or something of that nature?

Just remove the idle requirement.
