Any way to check my current WU's remotely
Hi
I've just set up another machine, and it appeared to be waiting for a cpu wu normally, but had paused waiting for idle in the gpu slot. Then the display died, almost certainly a dodgy hdmi/vga converter failing. I now can't check to see whether it's picked up and is working on 1 or possibly 2 wu, and won't be able to get a working display until next week.
Is there any way to tell how many wu are currently allocated to me? User is PeterJammo if that helps. If it has picked up anything I'll just leave it running, but if not I'd prefer to shut it down until I have a display.

If you have another machine, you can try configuring FAHControl for remote access. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/99 ... ahcontrol/
Otherwise, do you have any remote control software installed on the machin with no display?

The "new" machine is my son-in-laws old gaming box. As far as I know it's running a std installation of win10. All my other stuff (all running FAH) is running Mint 18.3 or 19.3 if any of that helps or hinders. I'll read the link and see if it helps.

If you're a chrome browser user you can do this using the Chrome Remote Desktop extension. It works similar to Teamviewer which is another option for monitoring/changing remote systems.

Had a quick look at a tutorial on this and the first step seems to be installing a chrome extension on the remote machine. Does this sound right?bollix47 wrote:If you're a chrome browser user you can do this using the Chrome Remote Desktop extension. Yes. Chrome talks to Chrome so to speak.
I have Chrome & Remote Desktop on my smart phone and have no problem monitoring my systems at home running the same extension when I'm out ... of course I'm using the same email address for both so that may be a show stopper but I'm not sure.

The first option seems to require access to the no display machine to set it up, and the second seems to be Win only, so I assume I can't use it from my fully functional Linux machines. Am I misunderstanding that?iceman1992 wrote:If you have another machine, you can try configuring FAHControl for remote access. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/99 ... ahcontrol/
Thanks for the help btw.

Did you have to intsall the remote extension on your home Chrome first?bollix47 wrote:Yes. Chrome talks to Chrome so to speak.

It was a while ago so I'm not 100% sure but that does seem logical.

OK, so no help for the moment but might prove very useful down the track. Thanks for the info.

Thanks to those who replied. I've been able to verify that I've at least picked up 1 CPU wu by checking https://apps.foldingathome.org/cpu Since that page is obviously not being updated properly I'm really hoping that it's managed more than that over the last 3 days, and I'll leave it running until I can get another hdmi/vga converter. If it wasn't for the lockdown, I'd just nip next door and borrow an HDMI TV from a neighbour for 1/2 an hour to get it set up properly and get remote access configured, but that's not on at the moment.
