Hi folks,
Help, I can't get rid of FaH-processes! I completely deinstalled the software, but the faHcore and -Client are still running ever and ever again.
I tried to kill (sudo kill -9) the tasks, resstarted the computer a couple of times. Nothing does help. Once I kill the core, it disappears, and starts running again after a couple of seconds (despite the Programm is deinstalled!) You can watch this on terminal with ps or top, or the activity-program.
My computer is then running on 100% and the fan starts spinning loudly most times. This is very disappointing!
I am talking about a MacBook pro running OS X HIGH Sierra.
I never have seen a behavior like this. I hope, there is anybody to help me!
Norbert

Did you use the provided Uninstall? From what else you report I would guess not.nseus wrote:Help, I can't get rid of FaH-processes! I completely deinstalled the software, but the faHcore and -Client are still running ever and ever again.
To fix this, if you don't still have the Installer you will need to download that again. Run the installer, either reinstall everything or do a Custom install and get the Uninstall Folding@home.pkg out from it.
Run the Uninstall. If you want to delete everything F@h related, go to /Library/Application Support/ and move the FAHClient folder to the Trash.

Hi Joe_H,
thank you very much for the tip. It seemed to work. Was my own stupidness, not to think about an Uninstaller: And once I deinstalled with CleanMyMac that was gone anyway.
But still how come, the process starts over and over? Must have been probably something left in the Library.
But thanks again,
Norbert

Re: Hep! Can't get rid of the software! [OS X]
There is a background process that is part of the software that has to be turned off and removed. The Uninstall takes care of that. Also in connection with that, some files are not installed in Applications.
