Reclassify AMD FirePro V5800

It seems that a lot of GPU problems revolve around specific versions of drivers. Though AMD has their own support structure, you can often learn from information reported by others who fold.

Reclassify AMD FirePro V5800

Post by tssmith2002 »

I started a new topic but it based in part on the topic in this forum #32042, "Problems getting new WU". I searched through my pile of obsolete GPU looking for DP capable cards and I have 3 FirePro V5800 TeraScale 2 boards that are listed as supporting DP but are being classified as AMD series 4 which are not currently supported. These are old Barco Medical imaging boards but they are FirePro V5800 units and FAH Client sees them as Juniper XT chipsets which is correct.

Will the site moderators reclassify these boards as usable or at least temporarily reclassify so we can test it? The PCI ID from GPU-Z is 1002 68A9 -13CC 3D1E and 1002 68A9 - 13CC 3D20. There are two different models of V5800 with different video connectors but both of them are FirePro 3D V5800 boards from Barco Imaging. The Barco Imaging Model Number is MXRT 5400 and MXRT 5450

Thank you for any assistance that can be provided.

Can you provide a link to information showing that these cards support DP? The information here - https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/f ... 5800.c2441 - does not list FP64, just FP32.

There is a program called FAHBench which uses code from a GPU folding core and data from a WU to test various options. Output from that would show if the card does have DP. t is not an utility I have used, perhaps someone more familiar with it will post.

Joe,

Thanks for your quick reply! The wiki entry here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A ... sing_units shows 224 GLOPS of DP, but I would like to test it if I can. I will DL Fahbench and see what it does and report back here.

FAHBench showed that it not supported? I wonder if it is a driver issue? Since the Terascale 2 wiki entry mentions DP as well. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TeraScale ... chitecture)#TeraScale_2_%22Evergreen%22-family

I must be mistaken but it looks like that it isn't supported at present. If I can solid evidence for DP support, I will post again.

This card use a Juniper XT GPU, that is also used in HD 5770 series. I don't know where you read that the professional version of the GPU might support DP, but all Juniper XT (including GL variant) GPUs listed lack of DP support. On https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_A ... sing_units they are all listed with NA/ or - in double precision processing power columns.

The wikipedia entry for the V5800 may have been a misplaced number that should be in the DP column for another card. And it looks like someone has edited that entry earlier today, reason given "no DP support".
