New servers, worldwide

There is now still more capacity on the folders' side than on the servers' side.
Would it make sense to lobby universities in our countries of residence asking them to set up servers for F@H?

Yes, they did.

There are many new servers this week, to help cope with having 20 times as many volunteer folders as 2 weeks ago. Many organizations have stepped up!

So you mean we shouldn't (lobby our unis)?
Last week, or at the beginning of this week, the server stats were often above 120,000/hr (Assign Rate). Now they seldom exceed 100,000. I don't see much progress?

You could ask your universities if they wanted help on this, they may already have other COVID-19 related research going on. They can contact he F@h group if they have the capacity, and the people on F@h would be able to determine what resources they can make use of.

The information I posted that was quoted here is based on what I have seen publicly available, I have no idea what discussions are going on with various other institutions and corporations behind the scenes. I also have not been following the Twitter and Facebook posts, just not enough time. I and the other moderators do have some contacts to forward on help offers to people who can sift through them and make further contacts.

And by F@H group, you mean? One of the three labs?

Folding@home is now based at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine, under the directorship of Dr. Greg Bowman. Drs. John Chodera (MSKCC) and Vince Voelz (Temple University) are also active in helping manage the project. Together, their three labs are the primary drivers of Folding@home.

I would suggest if an institution wanted to contact with an offer of assistance, direct it to Dr. Bowman's lab. He or one his group would be fielding the inquiry and would know who to forward it on to.

If the institution already has contacts with Temple or MSKCC, they can use those also. I am not certain of which of the other labs have someone active at this point beyond HKUST which is providing a server to be configured.

Offers posted here, on the Twitter feed , and on the Facebook page also get forwarded.
