Dear all,
what is the recommended way to stop a client? I understand it delays the project if you just stop it in the middle of a WU. So is there an option like "finish this WU, but don't download a new one"?

Yes, there is such an option.
In Advanced Control, right click on a slot and select Finish. It will complete the current WU, upload the results and wait for your next move.
If you're just wondering if you should do that before turning off the computer for the night, the answer is no. This procedure is only need if you plan to leave your system off for an extended period of time.
